Frequently Asked Questions
Delivery
A. To account for fluctuating diesel costs, we apply a 5% fuel surcharge on delivery services for every $0.50 that the monthly average price of diesel rises above $4.50. We base this monthly average price on the Diesel (PADD2) MIDWEST (On-Highway) index.
This surcharge is calculated monthly and applies only to delivery fees and does not apply to standard operational or material costs.
Fuel Surcharge Pricing Breakdown
The table below outlines how changes in the monthly average diesel price impact the delivery surcharge percentage:
| Monthly Avg. Diesel Price (per gallon) | Delivery Surcharge % |
|---|---|
| $4.50 or less | 0% (No Surcharge) |
| $4.51 – $5.00 | 5% |
| $5.01 – $5.50 | 10% |
| $5.51 – $6.00 | 15% |

Driveway & Maintenance
A. To repair muddy ruts, we recommend applying multiple thin layers of 6AA Limestone. For the best results, drive over the stone between each layer to compact the material and firm up the mud. Then repeat this process until you are satisfied with the results. This creates a durable, long-lasting surface.
A. We suggest using 22A Limestone. Because it contains a high number of “fines” (smaller particles) and it packs down incredibly hard (like concrete) to fill and seal potholes.
A. Crushed asphalt is a highly cost-effective option. It packs exceptionally well, is free of metal, and provides a beautiful, professional charcoal finish to your property.
Yard & Site Prep
A. The most budget-friendly method is using Wood Rd. Fill Dirt to establish your grade, followed by 3 to 4 inches of screened topsoil to support a healthy lawn. Using this two-step process instead of only topsoil can save you thousands of dollars.
A. Your choice depends on your specific needs:
- Budget-Friendly: 21AA Crushed Concrete is excellent for building grade.
- Cleanest Finish: 21AA Limestone is best if you want to ensure no metal material is in the pad.
- For Drainage: If your yard is prone to wetness, use 6AA Limestone to raise the grade and keep moisture away from the wood base.
- Pro Tip: Extend your pad two feet beyond the shed dimensions for a cleaner landscaped look and to protect your siding from string trimmer damage.
Materials & Specifications
A. 2NS Sand is a washed, coarse sand that resembles beach sand with small peastone mixed in. It is the industry standard for use in ready-mix concrete or as a stable paver base.
A. While both are unwashed sands, Class III Sand has a higher clay content and contains larger stones compared to Class II.
Landscaping
A. For the best curb appeal, we recommend stones with varied sizing. Popular choices include 2×6 Round Natural Stone, 1 1/8 x 2 1/2 Round Stone, or 1×3 and 3×5 Limestone.
A. For paver base we recommend 2NS Sand or #7 Limestone because they provide excellent compaction and drainage.
A. Top Dressing Grass: Always use a high-quality Screened Topsoil.
